I create non-objective mixed media pieces fundamentally rooted in my interest in emotions, perceptions and the passage of time.
My paintings represent my sense of abstracted reality. I create work in series, creating several pieces concurrently. I often slice, suspend and re-purpose fibers, including portions of my own paintings.
My training is academic; however, I make work in a highly intuitive painting process. As a painter, I feel strongly tied to the visceral quality of working with oil on canvas. I find inspiration in re-visiting fragments of time, in the play of light and shadow, in creating infinite color studies. Each piece I create acts as a thematic means to an emotional end.
I ultimately hope to share engaging artwork, which creates an interaction with the viewer. My goal is to offer both an opportunity for individual sentiment and an impetus for discussion and interaction.
